After looking at the different designs for the Harry Potter books, I looked further into how the brand was represented on merchandise and movie posters. A consistent element since the Marie GrandPre cover designs has been the logo/word mark. This along with consistent style of imagery has created a cohesive identity and feel for the brand. Merchandise and movie designs alike are both adorned with consistent logo usage and a specific color palette and imagery. Design elements from the set of the movie, designed by House of MinaLima, are directly translated to merchandise. This along with the production of elements that are from the story allows customers to interact with the world of Harry Potter. Whether it be a wand, a time turner, or a Ravenclaw scarf, each item is designed with the core identity of the story in mind.

As I begin my own work, I plan to start by developing a strong color palette, imagery style, and word mark that can live places besides the cover of a book. The goal is to make the design expandable.
